Guiana Shield Facility Call for Proposals 2013: Guyana
Aligning community MRV to national MRV for REDD+ readiness
Application Deadline: 25 October, 2013
Dear Civil Society Organisations (including private sector and community based organisations), Universities and Research Institutions within the Guiana Shield eco-region,
Since 2011, the GSF launched a call for proposals to contribute to its overall objective to promote and support the conservation and sustainable development of the Guiana Shield eco-region. For the period 1 September 2013 to 31 August 2014, the GSF wishes to offer and manage a Call for Proposals “Aligning community MRV to national MRV for REDD+ readiness”, which is aimed at aligning community monitoring, reporting and verification (cMRV) system with the ongoing national MRV (nMRV) system, so that the cMRV activities may be integrated into the national framework for REDD+ readiness. Guyana’s Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) recognizes the demonstration community MRV project as a collaborative project with civil society and donor partners. The results from the demonstration project and the nMRV roadmap provide important guidance for the present Call.
The Call for Proposals aims to select three initiatives that will receive financial and methodological support from the GSF, and its implementing partner, the Guyana Forestry Commission. The GSF financial support will be worth USD$25,000 to successful applicants, one from each of the following two areas:
- iDevelopment of approaches to apply free, prior and informed consent principles to integrating cMRV into the national framework for nMRV system for REDD+ readiness;
- Design methodologies to link REDD+ demonstration activities to the national framework for NMRV system for REDD+ readiness.
In order to submit the proposals, we suggest you take the following points into account:
- Read the GSF Call For Proposals Guidelines (286.13 kB) (More Info: http://communitymrv.org/guyana-project/)
- The requirements of the GSF Concept Note Template (38.69 kB), which is to be completed with basic information about the applicant and the proposal.
The Guiana Shield Facility (GSF) is a multi-donor funding facility set up and operated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Guyana country office (2010-2014). The European Union and the Government of the Netherlands financially support the GSF.
