On 19 December 2012, the Government of Suriname submitted the Readiness Preparation Proposal (R-PP) to the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) of the World Bank
The R-PP is a requirement for countries that are participating in the FCPF in order to access the Carbon Fund.
The Climate Compatible Development Agency (CCDA) is Suriname’s lead agency for the preparation of the R-PP. On 11 June 2012, UNDP signed a one-year Letter of Agreement with the CCDA to deliver financial and other support through the Guiana Shield Facility (GSF) to the CCDA for the preparation of the R-PP. The Agreement is worth USD295,950.
The GSF is a UNDP regional project funded by the European Union and the Government of the Netherlands to promote and support the conservation and sustainable development of the 2.7 million km2 Guiana Shield ecoregion.
